Retreat for a Birdwatcher

The Retreat is situated in the natural Park of Aberlady near Edinburgh. The park is rich of protected bird species because it captures a specific and probably unique ecosystem. The site reveals an interaction between the sea and the shore in numerous spatial forms. Wind as generative force deforms the form of the sand, rocks, trees and grass. The facility consists of a fireplace, a bed, tea table and storage. The project explores the space between the naturally formated rock with a niche for a fireplace and a wall as a basic form of retreat. Bird-watching is facilitated by opening and closing the facility.
